Pecan Energies and Partners Award Scholarships to Outstanding Ghanaian Students Under Flagship Initiative

(Accra, 13th May 2025) – Pecan Energies, together with its partners, is proud to announce that it has awarded full scholarships to 20 outstanding students under the Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme (PISP) for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Since its launch in 2020, PISP has empowered 161 students with full scholarships to pursue tertiary education in Ghana, prioritizing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and related courses. The scholarship package covers:
- Full tuition and lodging fees
- One laptop for academic work
- Semester stipend
- Student development programs, including career and skills training
- Mentoring & academic advising
This flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative continues to provide life-changing educational support to bright students from low-income households. It reaffirms the commitment of Pecan Energies and its partners – Lukoil Overseas Ghana Tano Limited, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and Fueltrade Limited – to investing in Ghana’s future.

This year’s scholarship awards mark a historic milestone, as it coincides with the celebration of the first-ever cohort of PISP graduates, highlighting the long-term impact of the programme.
We are also pleased to announce that, for the first time in the programme’s history, gender parity has been achieved, with 50% of this year’s beneficiaries being female and 50% male.
“This milestone reaffirms our commitment to ensuring equal access to education and empowering both young men and women to reach their full potential,” said Mrs. Kadijah Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of Pecan Energies Ghana Limited.
One of this year’s beneficiaries, Edward Tendeh, stepped up in the absence of his father to support his mother, a fishmonger, in caring for his four siblings. Due to financial constraints, he was forced to delay his tertiary education for a year. Thanks to the PISP, Edward is now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Reflecting on this opportunity, Edward said, “this is more than an opportunity—it is a promise. A promise that no matter where we come from, no matter how difficult the road has been, we have the power to rise above our circumstances. Pecan Energies has not only invested in our education but in our futures, in our communities, and in the generations to come.”
Pecan Energies, owned by the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) is committed to value creation. The PISP is a testament to this commitment, demonstrating how corporate investment in education can drive long-term national development.
